Icebreaker
Icebreaker assignment
Photograph your partner as if he/she was an author needing a formal portrait for a book jacket.
2 photos total. One photo head and shoulders, the other being full or half body.
Skateboard "Edgy" portraits.
Photograph your partner (or another friend) in 5 different poses in 5 different places. Make each one "edgy" as if it would be in a skateboard magazine.

Create a catalog in Lightroom for this class. You can save the catalog on a flash drive to work on at home if you'd like. Be sure to keep a copy on the school's hard drive for backup.
Every photo that you take for this class MUST be uploaded into lightroom and "developed." - adjusting color/contrast etc. Each photo for an assignmnent should be in its own collection. Each photo should be captioned and have an author/creator.
This will be graded at the end of the semester.
Note: You should always shoot RAW files, and export as jpegs to hand in for the critique (with the file spec's above).

Course Description:
This is a comprehensive course in basic and advanced photojournalism techniques. Students will gain practical experience in photography for publication in newspapers and magazines.
Since this is a summer-session class, we will not be collaborating with the journalism class, and will not be photographing for City Magazine. We will be posting our work on the city magazine website. www.lbcitymag.com
Course Requirements:
1. Attendance
Attendance is mandatory for this class. If you miss a class it is your responsibility to obtain notes and assignments from your classmates. Excessive absences will affect your grade.
2. Completion of assignments.
3. Class participation.
Students are expected to present their work and comment on their classmate’s work during print critique and the joint class sessions

-35mm dSLR Camera with Video capability (some cameras are available for free day to day rental with student ID. You are monetarily responsible)
-flash drive 4 or 8GB
